University Hotels and Student Accommodation
(Barcelona, Spain)
Barcelona offers several types of lodging for tourists and students. Hotels in various price ranges can be found around the city centre, and student dorms and accommodations programmes are available from the University's accommodation service.
Hotels and Accommodation
New students commonly arrive early in Barcelona to register for their first term and get to know the city before school opens, as well as to scout for dorms or apartments. It is also common for families to spend the summer and spring breaks with their children. The University offers summer lodging for such families, but accommodation is limited and demand is high. Fortunately, there are several quality hotels in Barcelona, all conveniently close to the campus and major tourist spots.
The Hotel 1898 in La Rambla is within easy reach of such attractions as the Plaza Catalunya, La Pedrera, and the Cathedral. It offers over a hundred well-furnished rooms, all of which are soundproofed and connected to a 24-hour room service. The Olivia Plaza Hotel is fairly new, less than a year old, and offers 113 beautifully designed rooms with wireless internet, flat screen TVs, and spectacular views of the city centre.
Student Accommodation
Students can choose from three university accommodation options: the University Student Halls, the Barcelona University Centre, and the 'Viure i conviure' Programme. The University Student Halls are located inside the university campus and are owned by the university, while the Barcelona University Centre is a central accommodation complex for students in other Barcelona schools. The 'Viure i conviure' Programme allows students to live with an elderly citizen or family.
